Welcome! I'm Emma.

I am a SSHRC-funded doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. My research focuses on the intersection of disaster response, gender, humanitarian aid and security, focusing on South and Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Queen's, I was the Special Assistant to the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) in Nepal and a Junior Professional Consultant with the same office. I completed my Master of Arts in Global Governance from the University of Waterloo's Balsillie School of International Affairs and a BA Honours in Political Studies from Bishop's University. Originally from Vancouver, BC, I now live in Kingston, Ontario.

I am a travel enthusiast, a voracious reader, and can be found in nature when I'm not writing.
